Vice-President of the Presidential Council Moussa Al-Koni affirmed the council’s commitment to holding the presidential and parliamentary elections on schedule pursuant to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
He considered the December elections a crucial step to achieve the peaceful transfer of power and hand over the leadership to an elected president on which the Libyan people are united.
Al-Koni made his remarks at a meeting Sunday with the Special Coordinator of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Resdon Zeninga, to discuss developments in the political situation in the country.
Zeninga affirmed the UN's continued support for the political process in Libya and for reaching the elections next December, stressing support for the Presidential Council's steps in this direction to achieve stability and national reconciliation.
