The Food and Drug Control Center (FDCC) has closed its office at Al-Khoms Port over of what it described as “poor security procedures at the port.”

In a statement, the FDCC has disclaimed responsibility for the food and pharmaceutical shipments imported through the port until security is imposed inside the port.

It said that it had appealed to state authorities for several times in order to maintain food security and consumer health, but to no avail.

Al-Khoms Port is one of the main commercial ports in Libya that receives hundreds of containers loaded with various products weekly.
