Al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi called on the relevant authorities in the city to secure the hospital, stressing that they have addressed the security director more than once without receiving any response.

The hospital clarified that an armed person entered the hospital Thursday and opened fire randomly in the intensive care unit (ICU), which included hospitalized patients in critical conditions as well as the oxygen tubes feeding the ICU and the artificial respirators.

Al-Jalaa Hospital said that the gunman was searching for a person that he was quarrelling with, outside the hospital, stressing that the incident terrified the staff and endangered their lives.
