Libya's army Chief, Lieutenant-General, Mohamed Al-Haddad, has affirmed the army's commitment to its sound military doctrine and the laws that obligate it not to interfere in political life.
In a speech to mark the 81st anniversary of establishing the Libyan army, Al-Haddad underscored that the military would stay focused on serving the nation's interest away from schisms and political strife.
"The establishment of the Libyan army was a good omen of independence, and today it will be the cornerstone for ending the crisis and building the country."
He indicated that those fueling the conflict in Libya, whether internal or external parties want to drag the army into taking sides in order to achieve hegemonic ambitions, underscoring that such an approach is not in the values and doctrine of the military establishment.
