Governor of the parallel Central Bank of Libya, based in Al-Bayda, Ali Al-Habri revealed that one-third of the state budget adopted by the bank in the past three years had been allocated for Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army alone.

Al-Habri disclosed in a TV talk show that the forces of Haftar in the eastern region had spent 43 per cent of the 2016 budget, representing 9 billion and 500 Libyan dinars, and 27 per cent of the 2017 budget, as well as 20 per cent of the 2018 budget.

He also clarified that the total amount spent by Haftar’s self-styled army in 3 years have stood around 9 billion Libyan dinars of the expenditure budget for the same period, which amounted to about 29 billion dinars.
