The African Union (AU) High Level Committee on Libya stated at the end of their meeting Tuesday that progress has been made in Libya in recent months, and welcomed the recent developments describing them as positive for the country.

A statement issued by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said the AU Committee took note of the decline in violent acts in Libya during the first quarter of 2018.

The participants at the meeting commended the role of the United Nations in this regard, and praised the return of UNSMIL to Tripoli, calling on other organizations and countries to do the same.

The participants also commended the progress made in the registration process of the elections and welcomed active participation throughout Libya, especially by the youth and women, demanding that all parties abide by the election results.
