The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed on Monday his concern about the developments in the situation in Libya, following the failure to reach consensus on some outstanding issues in the draft constitution.
Aboul Gheit warned that the current political impasse in Libya may have dire consequences for the country's stability, according to the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdie, noting that there is an understanding of the reasons that prompted citizens to demonstrate in various Libyan cities.
Rushdie affirmed the Arab League's Secretary-General's support for all endeavors to complete the preparation of the constitutional basis for holding elections, renew the legitimacy of all Libyan state institutions and end the current political impasse.
