The Libyan Navy announced on Friday that A Coast Guard patrol rescued Friday 94 illegal immigrants of different nationalities off the western coast of Libya.

A statement by the Navy said that a Tripoli patrol rescued the near-drowning migrants off Garabulli town, east of Tripoli, and recovered 5 dead bodies.

The migrants, who were on board a broken rubber boat, are from Nigeria, Chad, Egypt and Sudan.

The migrants were taken to the landing point at the Tripoli Naval Base and after they were provided with humanitarian and medical assistance, they were handed over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in Tareeq Sikka.
