Libyan authorities have released 90 Egyptians detained at a government-run illegal immigration centre in Tripoli, Cairo, announced on Monday.

The Egyptians arrested last Friday were released on Monday after negotiations between the two countries, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said through Ambassador Mohamed Tharwat Selim, head of the Egyptian diplomatic mission in Tripoli.

Ambassador Mohamed Tharwat thanked the Libyan Interior Minister, officials, and local authorities for this effort, which "reflects the close relations between the two countries," according to his statement.

"The Egyptian embassy in Tripoli, which resumed its work last month, succeeded in bringing this issue to a conclusion, in coordination with the relevant Libyan authorities," the statement read.
