The Libyan navy rescued 80 illegal immigrants, including 28 women and 11 children, on board a damaged rubber boat on Friday morning.

The Libyan naval spokesman, Ayoub Qasim, said that a Libyan coastguard boat rescued illegal immigrants of different African nationalities off Mellitah oil compound in western Libya.

Qasim added that the migrants were handed over to Tajoura Immigration Shelter after being provided with humanitarian and medical assistance.
