The head of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency, Mohamed Beshir, said that 5166 illegal immigrants are currently at shelters in Libya, noting that 2969 illegal immigrants have been deported in March.

According to the Libyan News Agency in Tripoli, Beshir demanded that Libya's neighboring countries protect and control their borders to limit the flow of migrants, which has become a source of concern at the national and regional level.

During the meeting of the tripartite working group on migrants stranded in Libya in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, he called for assistance from the Libyan authorities in the control and protection of its southern border through the provision of logistical and technical support.

The meeting was attended by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the European Union Mission.
