The European Union Delegation in Libya announced on Wednesday the allocation of 5 million euros to promote the elections in Libya.

The EU Delegation said in a statement that its head, Bettina Muscheidt, and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Director to Libya Sultan Hajiyev signed an agreement to allocate 5 million euros for the United Nations integrated electoral assistance project under the theme “Promoting Elections for the Libyan People.”

The funding aims to strengthen the efforts of the United Nations in developing the capacity of the Electoral Commission and training of its staff on international best practices in electoral systems, in addition to promoting public awareness and participation in the elections.
