The 444 Brigade said Tuesday it had managed to thwart an "externally-backed dangerous agenda" to plunge the capital into a severe crisis and stirrup public opinion by cutting off water.

In a statement on Facebook, the brigade said it received accurate intelligence that a group engaged in organized crime and creating chaos had planned to vandalize pipelines transferring water from the Man-Made River system to southern Bani Walid to cut off water supplies to Tripoli.

Following investigations, the brigade dispatched a squad to arrest this group, where they were handed over to the relevant authorities in Tripoli for further inquiry.

The brigade vowed to follow up on the situation to unearth who is behind these actions in Tripoli and elsewhere.
