The 444 Brigade has thwarted a fuel smuggling operation and arrested 8 armed persons driving four trucks loaded with 160,000 liters of fuel.
The Brigade managed to arrest the smugglers in a coordinated ambush in the valleys south of the city of Shwerf, after clashing with them.
Fuel smuggling operations are widespread in the southern region, taking advantage of the vast area of the region with weak security, which led to a stifling fuel crisis in southern Libya that raised its prices to more than ten times the official price in Libya.
