On the occasion of the International Day of Poverty, 42 Libyan community organizations and institutions have warned of the very real danger of a steep increase in poverty rates in Libya.

The organizations called in a collective statement to the Government of National Accord (GNA) on Saturday, along with all political parties, for the necessity to hasten the finding of a solution to the conflict and to end political division, in order to ensure economic cohesion.

They called on all parties to work together towards a comprehensive program to rebuild the infrastructure of all institutions, stressing the necessity to develop achievable plans to prevent the rise in numbers of Libyans at poverty level from reaching extreme levels.
