The Libyan Navy has rescued 299 illegal immigrants off the coast of Zliten on two rubber boats.

The Navy said that among the migrants were 40 women and 19 children, adding that humanitarian and medical aid was provided to them.

The illegal immigrants were then transferred to the Tripoli Naval Base in the presence of the International Organization for Migration, the High Commission and the International Medical Corps. The immigrants were later handed over to the Tajoura Shelter for Illegal Immigration.
