The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Nigeria said that it has managed to repatriate 2114 Nigerian migrants from detention centers in Libya since the start of its operations last January.

Nigeria began early this year the largest evacuation of its stranded citizens in Libya, who failed to cross the Mediterranean Sea into Europe.

Nigerians represent the largest number of African migrants who come to Libya in an attempt to cross the sea to Italy.
