The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) announced the end of the first phase of unspent weapons clear up after they were able to gather a large amount of remnants of war that had put the lives of Misratans and Libyans in general at risk.

The Media Office of UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said that over two hundred tons of explosive remnants of war were destroyed with the support of the governments of Denmark and South Korea.

UNSMIL`s Media Office added that reducing the risk to the public from remnants of war would extend beyond Misrata in a second phase aimed at destroying more than two hundred tons of war remnants with the support of the French government.
