162 Nigerian immigrants returned to their homeland voluntarily, having arrived in Libya to attempt to set out for European shores.

Ibrahim Farinluya, an official at the Nigerian National Emergency Management Agency said in a press statement, that the voluntary return of the immigrants came as a result of cooperation and coordination between both the Libyan and Nigerian governments, along with the International Organization for Migration (IOM.)

Farinluya added that amongst the migrants who returned to Nigeria were, 98 women, 24 children and 12 young infants, pointing out that some of the individuals suffer from issues which affect their health and wellbeing.
