The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has evacuated 107 refugees to the Emergency Transit Center in Romania, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Libya, noting that their cases will be processed for resettlement to Canada.

“With this flight,  1,463 vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers have been able to fly out of Libya this year on resettlement or evacuation flights, or as part of complementary pathways, including family reunifications”, the UNHCR said, indicating that this is the last evacuation flight for 2021.

The UNHCR called on countries to offer more places that can be a safe haven for asylum seekers and enable them to leave Libya.
