Misrata Medical Centre has celebrated the recovery of a woman who was hospitalized for nearly ten years in the Intensive Care Unit.

The hospital did not confirm her full recovery or release from the hospital but explained that she is responding very well to the treatment.

The center published a picture showing the woman, identified to be Mrs. Hawa, surrounded by doctors, medical staff, and workers at the hospital, who provided treatment and care for the lady all these years.

A source at the center has explained that the patient was suffering from "myasthenia gravis "; a neuromuscular disease that leads to muscle weakness and also affects swallowing and breathing, which in turn, requires the patient to be placed on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Hawa has luckily received free medical care at the centre throughout these years despite the underfunding problems the hospital was experiencing.

According to a medical source, treatment, and care for a similar case in private health facilities would cost around 3000 dinars per day.
