Director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Haider Al Sayeh, has convened a top-level meeting shortly after taking office Tuesday to review the NCDC strategy to control the pandemic.

According to a statement by the NCDC, Al-Sayeh took stock of the problems facing the workflow of the centre's branches, as the country comes under strain by a new Covid outbreak, while officials fear the case is the fast-spreading Delta variant.

He emphasized the significant role that the NCDC departments including, the monitoring and tracking networks, international health control offices, and vaccinating teams, are playing to contain the new outbreaks.

Appreciating their efforts and professionalism, he also called for developing the NCDC facilities and employees so that they will be able to meet any potential challenges.

Libya has registered 2,325 coronavirus new cases and 12 deaths, according to the NCDC update on Tuesday.
