A tri-lateral memorandum of cooperation between the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), WHO and UNICEF was signed in Tunisia on March 15 to further strengthen cooperation in support to children’s right to survival and development.

During 2016 and 2017, WHO and UNICEF will work together on assisting the NCDC with on-going health reform, policy and the advocacy required to ensure immunization and other child health services delivery in Libya.

At the end of a three-day planning meeting for Libya’s Expanded Program on Immunization, Plans for strengthening vaccines’ administration and the routine immunization activities in Libya have been the focus of discussion.

The meeting was attended by Libyan health authorities together with NCDC experts and senior management in addition to WHO and UNICEF’s regional and international experts.

Future cooperation on strategic focus areas have been identified which included cold chain and vaccine management; information sharing systems; middle level managers training on immunization and new-born mortality and morbidity reduction and reduction of under-5 morbidity and mortality.
