The Ministry of Health of the Presidential Council has suspended a medical shipment from Italy of an Israeli origin.

The Office of the Minister of Health demanded directors of public hospitals to coordinate with the Department of Pharmacy before accepting any shipments of drugs from foreign organizations, according to the ministry's Facebook on Monday.

"The acceptance of any consignment of drugs without defining the source or its conformity with the common specifications poses a risk to the health of citizens and public safety," the Director of the Pharmacy Department, Nahed Al-Makki stressed.

Al-Makki made clear that the Pharmacy Department will not take responsibility for the lack of commitment of hospital officials to coordinate with the department before receiving any medical shipments.

Earlier this year, the Customs Department suspended on instructions from the Food and Drug Control Authority a shipment of drugs of an Israeli origin which was supplied for the Italian Embassy in Tripoli to offer it within an assistance program to the municipalities affected by illegal migration.
