The member of the Libyan Coronavirus advisory board Fathi Abu Sanina said loosening precautionary measures was studied and a part of adapting to life with COVID-19.

Abu Sanina told reporters that loosening curfew and lockdown measures comes when people ignore those measures and authorities avoid implementing them, adding that previously imposed total curfews on Friday and Saturday were aimed to stop movements among cities and to decrease traffic congestions, yet they were in vain.

"We are worried that things will aggravate during Eid Al-Adha celebration as the board is pondering a total curfew on the Eid days with a ban on movements among cities." He added, saying if the quarantine centers' capacity exceeded 50%, they will impose stricter measures and that cases in need for intensive care are the most difficult.

The Presidential Council extended Friday the curfew but decreased hours to be from 9.00 pm to 6.00 am, removing Friday and Saturday total curfews. It also allowed some mosque prayers and loosened shutdown measures for some businesses.

Libya has now 1866 COVID-19 cases as 75 new ones were recorded by the National Center for Disease Control, which said 33 cases had recovered, bringing the total to 418.
