The Head of Libyan National Center for Disease Control, Badr Al-Deen Najjar said positive results had come out of trials for treating COVID-19 patients with convalescent plasma.

Najjar said Monday doctors at the Mitiga quarantine center had used convalescent plasma and helped them to save lives.

He also said the National Center for Disease Control had launched a campaign in cooperation with Blood Bank to urge the recovered Coronavirus cases to donate blood under the slogan: "Your plasma can save others".

Najjar added that doctors take the convalescent plasma from the recovered cases' blood and then prepare them to be used on active COVID-19 cases.

The center conditioned donating blood for the convalescent plasma to having two negative PCR tests with the last negative one being 14 days before donating blood, not to mention that the donors should have no COVID-19 symptoms.
