The Municipal Council of Kabaw has declared a state of emergency inside the municipality, calling on all medical personnel to intervene urgently to help save the city.

“This came after the death toll rose for the fourth day in the city, along with the high number of infections”, the Municipality said on its official Facebook page.

It also added that all service sectors within the city’s administrative borders will be closed, indicating that it will pay rewards to those who wish to help.

The city imposed in the past two days Covid-19 lockdown for an indefinite period.

In the meantime, the Director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in Yafran, Masoud Bouhalalah confirmed in a press statement that the epidemiological situation in the western region is out of control, adding that the cases of Coronavirus infection are increasing.

In the same context, NCDC said it had detected Coronavirus samples of the South African variant in the country, warning that this type spreads very fast which could explain the current fast rate of infections that aggravated the epidemiological situation in Libya, including the high rate of deaths in the last weeks.
