The Ministry of Health has sent 300 doses of anti-scorpion sera for the oasis town of Ubari, southwestern Libya, as summer begins and scorpions become more prevalent in the southern region.

The ministry said on its website that another 3000 doses are due to arrive on Tuesday in Tripoli and will be distributed to the centers and hospitals across the country.

It urged the Central Bank of Libya to reach out to companies importing the vaccines, and carry on the unfinished procedures that caused the halting of a large quantity of them to spare the lives of many local residents.

Several children died over the past few days because of scorpion stings in the city of Ubari due to the lack of anti-scorpion serums in Ubari Public Hospital.
