The CEO of the Libyan National Vaccination Program, Al-Sadiq Al-Bahilil, has warned of the consequences that could take place due to the shortage of children's vaccines across the country.

"I blame the Central Bank of Libya for such a crisis in the health sector in Libya." Al-Bahilil said on Facebook.

The acute shortage of the children's vaccines was caused by the suspension of providing the budget for the program by the CBL in 2017, he added, saying that the crisis is still ongoing with no definite end appearing in the near future.

"I call on the civil societies, media outlets and social media to help place some pressure on the decision makers in Libya to import the needed vaccines in no time." Al-Bahilil indicated.

He also warned that the heat wave of the summer and the environmental pollution as well as the illegal immigration could cause a health disaster and lead to the outbreak of diseases.
