The head of the Monitoring and Investigation Department at the Disease Control Centre Ramadan Osman said that the outbreak of Chikungunya fever in the Sudanese province of Kassala does not pose a threat to the Libyan population.

Osman explained Tuesday that this disease transmits through a certain type of mosquitoes, stressing that they will take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease in Libya, according to the Ministry of Health on Facebook.

On September 10, the Sudanese Ministry of Health confirmed that the disease that hit the province of Kassala was "Chikungunya", clarifying that the disease has infected around 6250 people, without recording any death incidents.
