The Director of the Centre for Disease Control Badr al-Din Najjar said Saturday that the recurrence of cases of food poisoning and water pollution in the south calls for the need to intensify outreach and education efforts.

"It is important to provide primary needs to health facilities in the south to confront such cases," Najjar said in a press statement, adding that the Centre is in consultation with the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide some of these basics, such as nutrition, antibiotics and others.

Najjar pointed out that the monitoring teams in the mentioned areas, and through the tests on some samples ruled out any infection of cholera, stressing that the awareness and monitoring are a factor role in preventing the frequent poisoning issue, which has been going on for several years.

It is noteworthy that the poisoning cases recorded during the last week in each of Ajdabiya, Qatrun, Ghat, and Traghan resulted in the death of 3 and illness of dozens.
