Tobruk Medical Centre announced Thursday the first paediatric heart surgery performed by an American team of Novick Cardiac Alliance, who is visiting the Centre for a specific period to conduct a number of important operations, noting that the operation was successful and the child who underwent the surgery was in good condition.
The two-year-old child was suffering from ventricular septal defects, which required his transfer from Rajma district in Benghazi to Tobruk Hospital to undergo an urgent surgery after the arrival of the medical team to the centre.
The American medical team arrived at Tobruk Medical Centre on November 12 to perform a number of heart surgeries for children.
