The Director of the syllabuses center of the UN-proposed government’s Education Ministry, Abdelkader Abujalala, said they have not ordered the removal of any courses from the school curricula unlike the Education Ministry of eastern government.

The Education Ministry of the eastern government of Abdullah Al-Thanni has removed some lessons from the National Education Course that is studied in the primary schools, raising a lot of question marks among Libyans.

“We are considering the lessons that are removed by Al-Thanni government, we’ll check if they are or are not needed.” Abujalala added.

According to the ministry, the removed lessons included the topic of 23 October 2011 Liberation Day, Shura lesson in the Islam course book, the lesson of demanding one’s rights, as well as international community role, figures from my country and faithfulness values lessons.

The eastern ministry did not explain why it removed the lessons, however; several observers said that most of the deleted lessons cover values that were banned in Gaddafi’s regime and they only came into the syllabus after 17 February revolution.
