The General Manager of the Customs Authority, Mustafa Azzam Al-Turjman, and the Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Kunio Mikuriya, inaugurated Sunday the Libyan Academy for Customs Studies.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday at Tripoli’s Customs Authority headquarters as the Secretary General Mikuriya is on a formal visit to Libya.

Many foreign diplomatic figures in Libya attended the ceremony along with international customs experts who accompanied Mikuriya as well as the Libyan Customs Authority’s managers, a delegate for the Libyan Foreign Ministry and others.

The new opening of the Libyan Academy for Customs Studies comes as part of the development policy that was adopted by the Customs Authority aiming at educating the customs personnel according to academic standards and those of the WCO PICARD Program.

The new academy will also have its degrees, as it hopes to give Bachelor and Master’s degrees, verified by the Quality Administration of the Higher Education Ministry in Libya.
