Foreign Economic Relations Board (Turkey-Libya Business Council) has revealed that the export figures of Turkey to Libya in an 11-month period reached 2.2 billion dollars.

The Council said in a statement on Wednesday that in last November, Turkey realized 247 million dollars of exports to Libya, saying while the increase in exports in the 11-month period was 64% compared to the same period of the previous year, there was an increase of 87% in November compared to the same month of the previous year.

The statement added that in November, Libya bought jewelry, furniture, paper and forestry products, chemicals and products, grains, pulses and oilseeds from Turkey, saying jewelry was the number one exported item.

The Head of the Council, Murtaza Karanfil, said Turkey as a producing country has an important contribution to meet the needs of Libya, but it knows that this contribution will be more stable with investments to be made in the country, not with exports.

"We think that investments should be made in the country. We should support the country to become productive and self-sufficient with the investment steps that our Turkish business people will take in Libya. The investments will also have an impact on increasing employment in the country and strengthening its position in the world economy. This will also help strengthen commercial and humanitarian relations between the two countries." He added.
