Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanalla proposed that the national electricity company focuses more on alternative resources to generate electricity, such as solar energy projects.

He indicated that this would be much needed, especially in areas remote from the gas pipeline network, considering this a suitable alternative to provide electrical energy at low costs.

This came during a meeting on Tuesday between the NOC head and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company Of Libya (GECOL) Wiam Al-Abdali, where they discussed means of cooperation, especially with regard to supplying electricity stations across the country with its needs of gas to ensure the continuation of work, according to a statement by the NOC.

The meeting addressed the difficulties and problems that impede the fueling operations, as well as the security situation and the implications of tight budgets which hinder the completion of development projects on both sides.

Meanwhile, the GECOL head confirmed that the public grid has developed projects to address the deficit in electric power, which it is seeking to implement in cooperation with the NOC, according to his statement.
