Libya’s parallel National Oil Corporation in Bayda has renounced an agreement reached with the internationally recognized National Oil Corporation in Tripoli last year to unify the two rival administrations.

The parallel NOC justified its decision in a statement on Monday saying the Chairman of Tripoli administration Mustafa Sanallah had violated the unity agreement and failed to relocate the HQ in Benghazi as per the agreement.

“Mustafa Sanallah was also absent during the House of Representatives session to discuss activation of the agreement,” the statement added.

The two sides signed an agreement in July 2016 to unify the two rival administrations following a dispute over power and legitimacy.
