The Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanallah held a meeting on Tuesday with the Italian oil firm, Eni, discussing the possibility of reopening Abu Tefel oilfield, which has been closed since last April over technical issues following the shutdown of oilfields run by the German firm, Wintershall.

The two oil firms discussed the work of the committee appointed by the NOC to evaluate the real potentials for reopening Abu Tefel and Ramal oilfields.

The committee is formed from experts from the NOC, Zueitina and Mellita oil firms.

"The reopening must be sped up and must be done in cooperation between the committee and all oil firms." NOC said in a statement.

The two oil firms also reviewed the development of vessels, with a presentation taking place and reviewing the proposed scenarios for the launch of projects and their timelines from 2017 to 2021.

Sanallah hailed what this new project study has achieved so far, adding that the NOC will assess it and then make the right decision about it.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the second phase of the development of Sabratha dock (Peace Sea Project) and Mellita complex. They discussed installing new equipment in both Sabratha dock and Mellita complex, which they said will conduct some service works in it to help boost oil production.
