The Libyan Telecommunication Holding Company has been ordered to conduct a feasibility study for Libyan telecommunication investments in Uganda.

This came during a meeting between the First Deputy President of the General National Congress (GNC), Awad Abdul-Sadek, with the President of the GNC Finance Committee, the Executive Director of the Libya African Investment Portfolio, President of the Steering Committee of the LTHC and Libya's Ambassador to the Republic of Uganda Fauzi Abu Katif.

The order comes in the wake of remarks by Ambassador Abu Katif, who said that the Ugandan government is intending to nationalize Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL) in which Libya owns a share of 69% of the company's capital estimated at $ 270 million, while 31% is owned by Uganda.
