The Libyan-Algerian Economic Forum concluded activities in Algiers on Sunday after a remarkable attendance by Libyan and Algerian businesspersons.

The forum tackled agreements between Libya and Algeria, boosting joint cooperation in trade exchange, supporting private sector projects, investment opportunities and projects that are going to be implemented as part of the mutual agreements, let alone building a free zone between the two countries.

During the forum, Libyan Minister of Transportation, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, and the Algerian counterpart Kamal Nasri, agreed to reopen joint border crossings in order to facilitate the movement of people and the transportation of goods between the two neighboring countries.

The two ministers also agreed on launching a maritime line between the Libyan and Algerian ports for travelers and goods’ transportation, tasking the relevant authorities to finalize the agreements as soon as possible.

Libya urged public and private sector contractors to help in housing and rebuilding projects in the country, adding that Algerian investors would benefit from incentives that include reduced taxes if they completed housing projects that had been suspended since 2011, according to the Algerian News Agency.
