Libya has won a compensation lawsuit against Turkish firm TAV Airports Holding Company which was demanding 80 million euros, Justice Ministry's lawsuit department reported.

The Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce delivered a verdict on July 20 saying that the contract signed between Libya and the Turkish company has been terminated due to force majeure, granting the company 10.3 million euros for the completed works, loss of equipment and guarantees.

The department added on Facebook Sunday that Libya has thus avoided paying the full compensation and hence is considered winner of the lawsuit since 77.5% of the demanded money was not paid.

"We will cut the sum required to be paid by the lawsuit from the sum paid as an advance of the contract's value (20 million euros)" The department added.

TAV Airports Holding Company filed the lawsuit for what it said Libya's violation of the legal terms of the contract to build Sabha International Airport.
