President of the High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri, received on Wednesday Italian ambassador to Libya Giuseppe Buccino, who stressed the importance of strengthening mutual visits to boost bilateral relations between Italy and Libya.

The two sides discussed the return of Italian companies to Libya to finish stalled projects, especially the Tripoli International Airport and the highway linking the West and the East parts of the country, a statement by the HCS media office said.

Al-Mishri emphasized the importance of economic relations between the two countries, expressing his hope that Italy would be the voice of Libya in the European Union.

He also underscored that the referendum on the constitution is crucial for guaranteeing that a new dictator will not emerge in Libya.

For his part, the Italian ambassador revealed that there are "unremitting Italian efforts" with Turkey and France to support the Libyan roadmap and address the political crises in the country.
