The General National Congress endorsed on Sunday a 2015 budget of 42.9 billion dinars with 98 votes out of a hundred.

The GNC’s spokesperson, Omar Hamidan said in a press conference that almost 19 billion dinars will be allotted for salary payments, 6.5 billion dinars for expenditure, while 6.641 billion dinars are to go for development projects and 11 billion for subsidies and price stabilisation.

He added that the GNC also approved, as part of the budget package, the implementation of decree (NO.8) of 2014, which demands a national ID number match for each item in the budget.

He pointed out that "article 25" in the decree obliges the government to replace the goods subsidies with cash by giving 50 dinars for every Libyan citizen per month.

He reaffirmed that the budget law includes in "article 30" a full commitment by the government to submit a bill to the legislative authority asking for a reschedule of salaries and for an outline of the minimum workers’ wages in the government.
