Italian oil and gas company, ENI North Africa Libya (Operator), has announced gas & condensate discovery in the exploration well (a1-01/01) drilled in contract area D (NC41) in Sobratah basin offshore Libya.

Reporting the discovery, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) indicated that the well is located approximately 140 km from the Libyan coast and 20 km North of Bouri Field, at an average water depth of about 125 m.

The well (A1-01/01) is the second well discovery drilled by the company so far this year, 2015, which, in an initial production test results, is expected to produce 868 barrels of gas and condensate as well as 1338 oil barrels on a daily basis.

Last March, ENI announced a similar gas discovery in a southern Libyan basin that had been producing about 17-19 million cubic feet of gas per day.
