Minister of Economy Ali Esawi has issued an order banning the importation of incandescent lamps, a step that aims to ration electricity consumption.

The order was welcomed by the General Electricity Company of Libya, calling on all importers and concerned authorities to put this order into force immediately.

The Electricity Company called for importation of energy-saving lamps to reduce energy consumption as the country’s outage crisis deepens.

Western and Southern Libya regions are experiencing severe power cuts that have seen several towns and districts enduring long periods without electricity amid high temperatures.
