The head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla, has called for commencing with the progressive development of the northern Hamada region to raise production capacity.

"The step would give a positive message to foreign and service companies and encourage them to intensify their presence in Libya, which would enhance the stability in the country," Sanalla said.

While chairing the annual meeting of the Nafusa Oil Operations Company, the NOC head disclosed that the firm is considering implementing a rapid production strategy in the Hamada field after carrying out the reservoir geological studies.

According to the plan, the first phase will be maintaining production at 10,000 barrels per day for around three to five years before raising the output to 25,000 barrels per day in the second stage.

Sanalla called on the Nafusa company to develop a strategy and find a rapid solution to process the gas produced from the fields into liquefied gas.

He requested the firm management to reach out to the national electricity company to set specifications regarding the gas required for functioning the power plants, stressing that this issue should be a top priority.
