The General Union of Air Transport has called on Libyan Airlines syndicates’ staff to hold an extended meeting and discuss radical solutions to guarantee the legitimate rights of the aviation employees.

The union said in a statement Thursday that it is keen on starting negotiations with the executive administration of the Libyan Airlines Company and thus it will give the company time enough before realizing its planned strike to preserve the unity and reputation of the Libyan Airlines.

“The Libyan Airlines took responsibility for the biggest part of the damage done to the aviation sector in Libya, yet it has not been decisive on uniting its two headquarters but rather it added more to the division by having two administrations, east and west, amid two governments in Tripoli and Tobruk.” The statement reads.

In the meantime, Libyan Airlines issued a statement Wednesday to hold the syndicates of its staff responsible for any material or moral damage that could result from their strike that is planned on February 10.
