The five-member Union of Libyan World Heritage Municipalities has called on the relevant authorities to help lift the ban on the Libyan World Heritage Sites.

In its fourth session in the city of Ghadames, the Union of Municipalities stressed that efforts were being pursued to lift the embargo imposed on the Libyan world heritage, pointing out that it is ready to receive any specialized technical mission or committee to visit the five prohibited heritage sites.

The city of Ghadames hosted on 21st and 22nd of this month the meetings of the Supreme Committee and the Standing Committee of the five-member Union of Libyan World Heritage Municipalities.

Earlier, the World Heritage Committee, which was held in Bahrain from June 24 to July 4, announced the extension of the ban on the five Libyan heritage sites, until further notice.
