On the occasion of the National Day of Tebu Culture, the Tebu Studies Center organized Wednesday a scientific symposium in Tripoli to highlight the historical and cultural role of the Tebu tribes.

The event hosted intellectuals, the Council of Notables and Elders of the Tebu tribes, and the chief guest Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture.

Panelists presented research papers on Tebu civilization in the depth of the Libyan desert and their role during the French invasion of Libya.

The lectures also addressed the rights of the Tebu in national and international conventions and means of preserving and developing the Tebu language.

Collecting and codifying expressions of the Tebu culture and protecting it was identified as a priority by the participants.

It may be worth mentioning that the Center for Tebu Studies is a scientific research institution established in 2013. The centre serves as a foundation in linguistics and culture at the national, regional, and international levels.
