An archaeological site consisting of a cave has been discovered in the coastal area of “Mirad Masoud” in Al-Marj city east of Liby.

The Libyan Department of Antiquities revealed that the cave located about 2 km east of the “Al-Uqla” site is relatively large and has three entrances.

The walls of the cave are decorated with ancient paintings and petroglyphs, which portray human figures, animals, and tools used in an earlier era, such as axes and arrows.

According to the same source, the cave overlooks Al-Shuwayer Valley from the west and the sea from the east and is linked by a stony path from the east side.

The initial analysis shows that the cave most likely dates back to ancient times, but this would be asserted by a specialized team who is still studying its elements and stone structure.
